Santa and Fanwood firefighters are asking the community to help make a child's Christmas special by donating a gift. Gifts will be accepted at the Fanwood firehouse only, and late gifts cannot be accepted.

"There is a change for this year. Our small town has grown and this is an extremely popular event for families with children," the fire department posted on its website. "Due to high demand, we have to cap the age for gifts at 14 years old. This will help make sure Santa has enough time to get to all the little girls and boys waiting to see him."

Out of an abundance of caution, Santa is also requesting the following:

1) Gifts should be no larger than a STANDARD SHOE BOX! Large gifts create more handling and risk for Santa's elves and helpers.

2) Child's name, address and phone number must be printed clearly on the package

3) As a precaution, Santa is requesting that large group pictures be avoided.
