Suspicious Package At Fanwood Train Station: False Alarm

Fanwood notified residents of a suspicious package at the train station Wednesday night. Police confirmed it was an empty cooking appliance.

FANWOOD, NJ — Fanwood Police advised residents to keep clear of Fanwood Train Station when a suspicious package was found on the platform Wednesday evening.

Police reported the suspicious package at 6:13 p.m. Wednesday. About an hour later, police said the package appeared to be an empty cooking appliance.

Fanwood Police cleared the package from the train platform and deemed the area safe.

NJ Transit was notified of the incident and the Borough said they would potentially halt or delay trains coming into Fanwood.
