UPDATE: Second Bear Spotted In Summit
Summit Police advise residents to not approach the bear if seen.
SUMMIT, NJ — A bear was seen in Summit Tuesday morning, according to an alert from Summit Police at around 10:15 a.m.
Police said the bear was seen on Sunset Drive and Division Avenue. Residents are advised not to approach the bear.
Update: Summit Police said a second bear was seen Tuesday on West End Avenue.

Police are asking residents to secure trash bins in their garage if possible and to take down bird feeders.
The city is in contact with NJ Fish and Wildlife and they report this is normal behavior at this time of year in the Summit area. They ask citizens to report bear activity to 877-WARN-DEP or online at dep.nj.gov/njfw.

A previous bear sighting occurred on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Summit, close to New Providence, spokesperson Amy Cairns had told Patch last week.
