Christmas Tree Collection To Begin In Summit

Trees must follow certain guidelines to be eligible.

SUMMIT, NJ — The hassle of the holidays and what to do with your tree does not have to carry over into January.

The Summit Department of Public Works will be collecting residents' Christmas trees curbside at their homes starting on Jan. 5.

There are no specifically scheduled times or dates. The last pickup will be on Jan. 30.

Ornaments, lights, and decorations must all be removed. Trees can't be in plastic bags.

Garlands and wreaths should be dropped in or next to trash cans to be picked up with regular trash collection.

Concerns over tree collections can be reported after Jan. 30, the city said.
