Large Power Outage Reported In Summit, City Offices To Close Early

At least 1,755 JCP&L customers in Summit are experiencing a power outage Friday morning, according to the city.

SUMMIT, NJ — JCP&L is reporting a large power outage in Summit on Friday, as stormy weather and high winds strike the area.

According to JCP&L the outage is affecting 1,755 customers in Summit. Estimated restoration time is 11:30 a.m.

Due to the inclement weather, city offices will also be closing at 1 p.m. on Friday.

The Summit Police Department issued a weather advisory, stating that on Friday afternoon, "an Arctic front moving through the area will cause dangerously cold temperatures and flash freezing of wet road surfaces and make driving hazardous."

Police said if the roads looks wet, assume it is ice. Residents are advised to avoid travel if possible.
