New Summit Police Officer Sworn In

SUMMIT, NJ — A new Summit Police officer was sworn into the agency on Monday, according to the City.

Officer Jonathan Ramos is the newest addition to the Summit Police Department. Ramos grew up in Essex County and graduated from Irvington High School.

He also volunteered with the Millburn First Aid Squad where he received his State of New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician Certification in 2017.

Ramos later attended the Essex County Police Academy, graduating in Class 19-2. He was then hired by the Irvington Police Department in Sept. of 2019 where he served as a Patrol Officer in their Patrol Bureau.

While with Irvington Police Department, Office Ramos was assigned to S.A.F.E, a crime suppression detail, where he assisted the Narcotics and Detective Units with warrant arrests, surveillance details and crime scene processing.

When not working, Officer Ramos enjoys spending time with his family, according to the city's announcement.
