Summit Could Name New Basketball Coach Thursday
The process has taken months and several special meetings.

The Summit Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday for the purpose of naming a high school basketball coach for the upcoming school year, something it has failed to do since Coach David White's contract was not renewed at the end of last year.
The meeting will mark the sixth time the board has gathered to discuss the appointment of a coach.
According to a report from the Alternative Press, Superintendent Nathan Parker said at a recent board meeting that he would make a recommendation for a replacement for Coach White, whose contract expired at the end of last year and was not renewed.

While the board was hopeful it would be able to name a successor at past meetings, a special meeting announcement released last week said it's likely formal action will be taken at this, the sixth meeting.
The appointment has not been without its issues. Some parents have raised issue with the delay in naming a new coach and others have come to the aid of White, who they claim has been treated differently than other coaches in the district.

From a previos Patch report, Parker, however, said it's standard practice that coaches for all sports must reapply after their contracts expire.
