2-Hour Delayed Opening For Summit Schools Due To Snowy Forecast

The district will operate on a delayed schedule Friday, as the NWS predicts freezing rain mixed with sleet and possible icy roads.

SUMMIT, NJ — Summit Public Schools will have a delayed opening on Friday, due to the impending forecast of rain mixed with snow and possible ice accumulation.

The district announced Thursday evening that Summit Schools will follow a delayed opening schedule on Friday.

Kindergarten 10:30am - 3:15pm
Elementary School 10:15am - 3:00pm
Middle School 9:55am - 2:45pm
High School 9:45am - 2:49pm

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Watch for Summit, and all of Union County, from Thursday at 10 p.m. until Friday at 1 p.m.

Freezing rain mixed with sleet is expected Thursday night into Friday, with ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch.
