Bad Ass Coffee To Open New Franchise Location In Bergen County
The legend of the donkey and its role in Hawaiian coffee history lives on at Bad Ass Coffee, as it expands to New Jersey, the company said.

HACKENSACK, NJ — Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, a coffee franchise that is "stubborn" about sourcing, roasting and serving quality Hawaiian coffee is opening its newest location in early 2023 in Hackensack, the company said in a news release.
Born in 1989 in Hawaii, the company sources coffee from the Kona region on the western side of the Big Island, and the islands of Kauai and Maui.
The name pays tribute, the company said, to the donkey — an important animal in Hawaiian coffee history.

"Legend has it that for generations, donkeys could be heard bellowing as they carried loads of coffee beans down the mountains of the Big Island," the company said. "The people of Kona named these donkeys the 'Bad Ass Ones' because of their reliably strong, but stubborn nature in carrying their precious cargo."
And that legend, the company said, lives on at Bad Ass Coffee, the new location for which will be at 50 Main Street. In addition to premium coffee, branded merchandise and a full menu of Hawaiian-inspired food will be served at the shop when it opens.
