Family-Owned Ice Cream Shop In Teaneck Set To Close
Bischoff's Confectionery, open since 1934 in Teaneck, is closing at the end of the calendar year, the family said.
TEANECK, NJ — A fourth-generation family-owned ice cream parlor since 1934 in Teaneck is closing, according to sources.
Bischoff's Confectionery at 468 Cedar Lane is shutting down, owner Steven Mather's wife Collette announced on Facebook.
"Everyone is asking 'What can we do?' and 'How do we save Bischoff's!' Collette Mather said. "And to this I say: Celebrate Steve and Anita (his mother) for the blood, sweat and tears they have put into a businesss that has meant so much to so many."

"And secondly," she said, "patronize small business."
Offering "homey, old-school (ice cream) soda fountain" experience, Bischoff's sells ice cream and sauces that are made by hand on the premises, according to the shop's website.

"The immediate and intense outpouring of love and support has been amazing, powerful and heartbreaking," Collette Mather said. "December will feel like a month-long wake as we say goodbye."
Bischoff's will close at the end of the calendar year, Steven Mather told NJ Advance Media on Tuesday.
