Holy Name Expansion: Public Meeting Scheduled March 15 In Teaneck
A major expansion of Holy Name Hospital may move forward in the next few weeks.

TEANECK, NJ — A major expansion of Holy Name Hospital may move forward in the next few weeks.
The hospital is asking to rezone part of its current campus and some property it owns to expand the hospital. The Teaneck Township Council would have to approve that rezoning by passing an ordinance, and may do so in March.
A public hearing will be held at the March 15 meeting, where council may vote to approve the rezoning. Council voted earlier this week to introduce the ordinance, NorthJersey.com reported.

If approved, there are four phases to the plan as it currently stands, which estimates a build-out of 10 to 20 years. Among the new elements of the hospital's campus would be two nine-story hospital buildings, three new medical office buildings and a number of renovations to existing structures and access points. In December, the council's planning board voted to send the ordinance on to full council.
Additional parking spaces are needed, the hospital said, as are ancillary services like child and adult day care.

However, these are just estimations of what may happen over the next decade or two, officials said in the proposal.
A number of residents, including a group called "Good Neighbors of Teaneck," have asked for more room between the hospital campus and their neighborhood, NorthJersey.com reported. Others are in favor, and are worried the hospital may leave Teaneck if it cannot grow.
The plans include some ideas to separate hospital traffic from the neighborhood, the report said.
