2 Parents Of Teens Sworn In As Mayor, Deputy Mayor In Teaneck
Teaneck's new mayor and deputy mayor are both ambulance corps volunteers and parents of teens. Surely they can manage a town.
TEANECK, NJ — Teaneck is kicking off the new year with a new mayor and deputy mayor.
On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who lives in Bergen County, administered the oath of office for new Mayor Mark Schwartz and Deputy Mayor Karen Orgen.
Schwartz, a longtime council member, has been a Teaneck homeowner since age 19, according to his biography. He has four kids between 12 and 19, and works as a real estate management consultant. He's also a volunteer with the ambulance corps.

Orgen has been a pharmacy manager in Ramsey, has lived in Teaneck for 50 years, and has two teenage daughters.
Like Schwartz, she volunteers with the ambulance squad.

“Karen Orgen and Mark Schwartz have both been longtime friends, leaders, and advocates for Teaneck families," Gottheimer said. "After all they have done for Jersey, Teaneck is an even better place to work, live, and raise a family."
He added, “I look forward to working with both the mayor and deputy mayor to lower taxes and costs for Jersey families, support our first responders, and fight for our shared Jersey Values.”
