Street Renamed 'Bischoff's Place' In Honor Of Teaneck Ice Cream Shop
A section of Cedar Lane next to Bischoff's Confectionery was renamed in honor of the Teaneck staple, which is closing in just two days.
TEANECK, NJ — A longtime staple in Teaneck is set to close in less than two days, yet the memory of it will forever be enshrined in the heart of the community.
Bischoff's Confectionery, a family-owned ice cream parlor, is shuttering for good this weekend, and to honor the shop's service and dedication to patrons over the years, a portion of Cedar Lane next to the store was renamed "Bischoff's Place."
"We are deeply grateful for the gesture," the shop said in a Facebook post. Owner Steve Mather is shown in the post holding the formal proclamation.

An overwhelming response to Bischoff's closing has left the store sold out of ice cream, though store owners said food and candy will continue being sold until the end of the year while supplies last.
"We don’t have any ice cream left, but we have a lot of love," the store said.
