Teaneck Municipal Buildings To Close Amid COVID Spike
The township recorded 98 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, sparking the closure, which will last into the new year.
TEANECK, NJ — After a spike in COVID-19 cases in the township, Teaneck officials have moved to close municipal buildings through the rest of the year, and into 2022.
The township registered 98 new cases over the weekend, a figure that is "very alarming" to township officials and the local Department of Health, Deputy Township Manager Dean Kazinci said in a news release.
"Because of the significant uptick in positive COVID-19 cases in the Teaneck community, I have made the decision to close all municipal buildings to the public effective Tuesday, December 21, 2021," he said.

Those dates would get the township through the holiday season, as well as a 14-day quarantine period. However, the reopening will be "contingent upon data showing COVID-19 cases have declined to a safe level, and our health officer determines it’s appropriate to do so."
