In anticipation of the winter storm, DPW is using Brine to treat our roadways. This anti-icing method involves placing a layer of brine on the surface of the pavement before a winter storm has begun to prevent snow and ice from freezing to the road. If you see the DPW trucks spreading liquid on the roadway this morning, this is brine, a solution of liquid salt.

The current weather forecast calls for snow to start falling at 8:00 p.m. this evening. Lifting of the municipal parking lot restrictions 12 hours prior to the anticipated snowfall should give everyone ample time to remove vehicles from the roadway before the bad weather sets in later this evening.
