Gov. Murphy Has New Insight Into How Jersey Shore Summer May Look
WATCH: Gov. Murphy provided an update of what the Jersey Shore summer may look like as he addressed the public on Monday.
NEW JERSEY – Gov. Phil Murphy on Monday provided insight into what the Jersey Shore summer may look like as he addressed the public on Monday.
Murphy said he was "encouraged" with parkgoers' social distancing compliance at state and county parks on Saturday and Sunday, the first weekend they were available to the public since he reopened them last week.

- Murphy indicated that he may not issue a statewide order to close the beaches – similar to what other states have done – and that New Jersey will provide "guidance" instead.
- Murphy said one of the restrictions – besides social distancing measures – that the state is considering is limiting parking to 50 percent of capacity.
- Murphy said towns will not likely be allowed by law to restrict beaches to residents only. Towns have considered such a measure as a way to slowly and safely reopen their beaches. Read more: Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Suggests Possible Beach Reopen Plan
"Some guidance will make sense," Murphy said. "We're encouraged by the compliance over the weekend with the state and county parks."
