Home Health Aide From Toms River Admits Stealing From Client

A Toms River woman awaits sentencing in Superior Court after admitting she stole blank checks from a client and used them to finance purchases on clothes, travel and more.

Yvette Bullard-Tebetts, 44, pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of third-degree theft by deception and three counts of third-degree uttering a forged instrument.  

Bullard-Tebetts admitted stealing three blank checks from a home health aide patient who employed her, according to a release from the attorney general's office. Bullard-Tebetts forged and cashed the checks for $144,950, the release said.

The home health aide then used the money in Atlantic City casinos, on furniture, travel, clothing, jewelry, a car and her apartment lease, the release said.

Bullard-Tebetts will be sentenced Sept. 7. The attorney general's release said the state will recommend 364 days in the Ocean County Jail and complete restitution for the money stolen, $144,950.
