Manalapan Man Indicted in Toms River Burglary, Theft

Ocean County grand juries hand up indictments

A Manalapan man was indicted by an Ocean County grand jury last week on charges of burglarizing a Toms River home and stealing various items.

Anthony R. Scifo, 21, broke into a Breckenridge Place residence Sept. 9 and stole jewelry, a computer, credit cards and other property, the indictment states.

Scifo then used a stolen First National Bank Visa credit card to make purchases that same day at Exxon in Toms River.

He was charged with burglary, theft, credit card theft, fraudulent use of a credit card and two counts of receiving stolen property.

Scifo was initially jailed but posted $25,000 bail on Sept. 29.

Grand juries also indicted:

  • Christopher R. Schoepfer, 25, of Pine Beach after authorities said he stole equipment from  in Manchester and sold it in nearby towns.

Authorities claim Schoepfer broke into the shop at 2065 Route 37 and took more than $500 in tools and metal equipment on Sept. 22. Schoepfer then sold the materials over the next four days in Berkeley and Toms River, the indictment states.

He was charged with burglary, theft and dealing in stolen property, all in the third degree.

Schoepfer was released on his own recognizance.

  • William C. Baydalla, 29, of Toms River on weapons charges.

Baydalla was arrested Sept. 4 in Manchester and accused of possessing a gravity knife and metal knuckles, the indictment states.

He was released on a summons.

  • John D. Gabriele, 52, of Toms River on charges of forging a prescription to acquire Roxicodone.

Gabriele is charged with attempting to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by fraud and uttering a forged instrument in connection with his Jan. 25 arrest. He was released on a summons.

  • Parker B. Egan, 19, of Toms River on a dealing in stolen property charge.

Egan is accused of selling more than $500 in jewelry in the township from Oct. 17 to Dec. 15. He was released on a summons.

  • Eugene J. Fisher Jr., 19, of Ocean Gate on a prohibited weapon charge after authorities said he was in possession of a switchblade knife Dec. 19 in the township.

Fisher was initially jailed on $5,000 bail but posted the day of his arrest.
