Cricket League Starting In Wayne This Spring: How To Sign Up
Training and league play are available for three different age groups, starting in mid-April.
WAYNE, NJ — The crack of cricket bats will soon be resounding through Wayne —and whether you're an all-rounder or feel totally "stumped" by the rules, residents of all ages have a chance to get in on the globally-popular game.
The Wayne Cricket league launches on April 21 and runs through June at Ralph Valt Memorial Park (71 Hamilton Ave.), as the township Parks and Recreation Department announced. Training sessions and league matches will be organized in three age groups: Players from 8-10 years old, players from 12-14 years old, and players 15 years old and up.
The program will be led by Lalta Persaud, who is certified by the International Cricket Council and is the director/coach of youth cricket development with the Garden State Cricket League.

The $150 fee includes a uniform set, field equipment, and professional instruction. Players are responsible for their own personal protective equipment, cricket bat, and cricket shoes. An additional league fee may apply.
The two younger groups will meet Mondays and Fridays from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the park. The older group will meet Wednesdays from 5:30 p.m.to 7:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
