WAYNE, NJ - A local author and musician treated seniors and children with a performance on Wednesday afternoon in Wayne.

Jolie Della Valle, also known as "Miss Jolie," dropped into the Brookdale Senior Living Center to deliver a high energy, 30 minute performance that left seniors and toddlers alike in big smiles.

Taisa Scors, a Montclair mother who managers Hula Frog, a website for parents about local family friendly activities, was one of the many moms in attendance on Wednesday.

“Miss Jolie’s performance alongside the residents of Brookdale made for a very merry, hand-clapping, bubble-popping audience, that comprised both young and old," she said. "My twin toddler girls loved moving and grooving to her music. She is part music educator, part entertainer, pure energy and tons of fun. It is no surprise that she won Hulafrog’s Most Loved Award for Music Lessons. We can’t wait to hear her perform again soon.”

Cindy Redling of Wayne brought two-year-old Catie for the show and both had a blast.

"Miss Jolie is always a treat and Catie has become such a fan girl that we kind of tail her on the library circuit," Redling said. "It was really sweet of Miss Jolie to bring her act to Brookdale so the seniors could see the little ones sing and dance along."

Della Valle aims to bring her show to one nursing home a month as a way of giving back to the community that has supported her since she released her first book, "Georgie and the Ants," in 2014.

A repeat performance of the act is planned at Sienna Village in May.

In the interim, she has planned appearances at several area libraries and will soon be releasing a second book, Searching for Good Luck, due out in March 2020. For more information about Miss Jolie's public performances visit her website.
