$500 Chanel Glasses Stolen, 2 Bike Thefts In Westfield Last Week: Police
Two residents had their cars broken into and two others had their bikes stolen last week, according to the Westfield police blotter.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A handful of attempted car thefts, burglaries and bike thefts occurred last week in Westfield, according to the most recent police blotter.
Two residents had their cars broken into and another two had their bikes stolen last week, according to Westfield Police.
Car burglaries and thefts have become a common occurrence in Westfield in the past year.

The first theft occurred at around 2:57 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30 when a woman's Chanel sunglasses were stolen from her car. Police said the woman was inside a business in the area of the 200 block of East South Avenue at the time of the theft.

She described the sunglasses as having thick frames, black-colored with gray or off-white coloring on top of the frame, police said. She told police that the glasses were on the back seat of the vehicle. The approximate value of the sunglasses and case were $500.
The woman told police that after leaving the establishment, she could not find her sunglasses.
An attempted car theft occurred during the overnight hours between Nov. 2 and Nov. 3 on the 800 block of West South Avenue, according to police. On the morning of Nov. 3, police said an employee found a car parked on the premise to have been "moved and tampered with."
Police said further investigation suggested that unknown person may have entered the vehicle and attempted to take the vehicle before finding the vehicle was unable to start.
Two bike thefts also occurred at both Westfield train stations, according to police.
A resident from the 500 block of East North Avenue told police that his bicycle was stolen from the Northside Train Station at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2. He told police that his bicycle was secured to the bike rack when the theft occurred.
The bicycle was described as a black Vilano Diverse 3.0 worth an estimated $600, police said.
Then on Thursday, Nov. 3, a resident from the 100 block of Elizabeth Avenue told police that their bicycle was stolen from Southside Train Station Lot. Police said an unknown person stole their black "Giant" brand bicycle valued at $440 sometime between 6:45 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.
