WESTFIELD, NJ — UPDATE: Chief Christopher Battiloro told Patch that there is a transformer burning near the intersection of Elm St. and Sinclair Place. The area has been secured pending the arrival of PSE&G, Battiloro said.

There is currently an active fire in Westfield involving a utility pole and power lines, according to an alert from Westfield Police at 11:49 a.m. on Friday.

The fire is in the area of Elm Street and Sinclair Place, and the Fire Department says to avoid the area.
