Fires At Westfield Station To Blame For NJ Transit Delays Friday
Rail service via the Raritan Valley Line was subject to up to 40 minutes delays in both directions due to the fires.
WESTFIELD, NJ - Westfield fire officials battled several brush fires in and around the south side of the train station Friday night, authorities said.
The brush fires stemmed from a leaf pile along and near the New Jersey Transit train tracks, Westfield police said in a Nixle alert around 6:15 p.m. Friday night. The fire impacted train service and vehicle access to the area, police added.
Officials from the Westfield Fire Department also wrote on Facebook that it was responding to multiple brush fires near the station.
