Junior League to Hold 'Raising Resilient Girls' Event in Westfield, Oct. 5
The Junior League of Elizabeth-Plainfield and the Tuesday Club Co-Host Program on "Raising Resilient Girls" on October 5 in Westfield.

On Monday, October 5 at 7 p.m. at Edison Intermediate School in Westfield, the Junior League of Elizabeth-Plainfield and the Tuesday Club will co-host on “Raising Resilient Girls” presented by Simone Marean, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the internationally recognized Girls Leadership (GL). Her engaging presentation, which is open to the public, will cover the development of girl dynamics beginning in preschool through high school years.
The presentation for parents and teachers will focus on how to help girls practice assertive, self-expression, emotional intelligence, and health relationships, preparing them for life of personal and societal leadership. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how and why girls of all ages are aggressive with one another, the importance of emotional intelligence for healthy conflict, the role of mistakes and the limitations of blame, the concept of contribution, as well as establishing a road for healthy conflict. The one hour program will be followed by a 30 minute Q & A session.

The Junior League of Elizabeth-Plainfield (JLEP) is an organization of women founded in 1924 committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, improving the community through effective action, leadership of trained volunteers and concentration on a focus area of girls empowerment. The Tuesday Club is a women’s service organization established by seven Westfield area women in 2013. The 90-plus members of the Tuesday Club work together to serve their community by organizing and participating in a variety of hands-on service projects for those in need in the greater Westfield area. Tuesday Club community partners include: Children’s Specialized Hospital, Community Food Bank of NJ, Imagine Center for Grief and Loss, Mobile Meals of Westfield, Homefirst, Mandy Reichmann Feeding Program, A Birthday Wish, YWCA of Union County, CASA of Union County and Friends of Mindowaskin Park among others.
