Local Drama Students Earn Top Awards In Theatre Competition

Westfield students competed against 60 students from five schools across the state.

Students from Roosevelt Intermediate School earned top awards at Theatrefest last month.

Local students from Roosevelt Intermediate School earned top awards at the New Jersey Drama and Forensics League Theatrefest last month.

Sixty students from five schools in the state compated in the New Jersey Drama and Forensics League Theatrefest, held at Chatham Middle School on March 21. The 11 eighth grade students from Roosevelt Intermediate School competed in four different events and snagged a number of awards.

The awards and winners include:

  • 1st Place, Sofia Toglia - Comedic Monologue
  • 1st Place, Sarah Laide and Sofia Lemberg - Comedic Pair
  • 1st Place, Rachel Hamelburg and Julia Sackett - Dramatic Pair
  • 2nd Place, Alison Brown - Comedic Monologue
  • 2nd Place, Emma Downer and Mary Joy Sidom - Dramatic Pair
  • 2nd Place, Brianna Hatch - Dramatic Monologue
  • 3rd Place, Emma Hamilton - Dramatic Monologue
