As authorities approached the vehicle, Wolfe reportedly drove the vehicle in reverse, crashing into a parked car, and then accelerated forward toward a state trooper. The trooper fired several rounds, wounding Wolfe in the head, the attorney general reported. The vehicle driven by Wolfe continued southbound on Walker Avenue and struck another parked car before coming to a stop.
Authorities immediately administered medical aid to Wolfe. He was then taken to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead. It was not specified whether Wolfe died at the scene or at the hospital.
