Permanent Mural Installed At Westfield's Center For Creativity
A number of improvements have been made to Westfield's old Rialto Theater, including a new mural, bistro lights and soon a 'bike oasis.'

WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield's old Rialto Theater is getting a facelift, as the Public Arts Commission has made several improvements to the area.
According to an announcement from Mayor Shelley Brindle, the Arts Commission has partnered with the Center for Creativity at the Rialto to create a mural that "transforms and better connects the space from East Broad to the rear parking lot.
The project is funded by a grant from Union County and also includes bistro lights in the alleyway.

Brindle said the area will soon have public Wi-Fi, as well as a "bike oasis" with amenities for cyclists. This includes new bike racks, benches, a bike shelter and a bike tool repair station to further encourage biking in the downtown.
In addition, Brindle said local artist and Westfield native Ricardo Roig has established the Heartwork Non-Profit Art Space next to the theater — in the former Robert Anthony Jeweler space — representing a further expansion of the arts in the downtown.
