Trader Joe's Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage Recalled
The USDA said more than 50,000 pounds of chicken sausage is being recalled.

Kayem Foods is recalling nearly 60,000 pounds of fully cooked chicken sausage products sold in Trader Joe’s stores across the country after it was discovered that it may be contaminated with plastic.
In total, the Massachusetts-based Kayem Foods is recalling 59,203 pounds of the chicken sausage, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The products were produced on various dates in March 2015.
The chicken sausage products being recalled include:

- Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage with the case code of 9605 and use by/freeze by dates of “4 22 15,” “4 25 15,” and “4 29 15.”
- Apple Maple Fully Cooked Breakfast Chicken Sausage with a case code of 9709 and use by/freeze by dates of “JUN 13 2015” and “JUN 20 2015.”
The Town of Westfield has one Trader Joe’s location at 155 Elm St.
Any residents to purchase Trader Joe’s Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage with the specified code dates, should not eat it and are urged to discard it or return it to any Trader Joe’s location for a full refund.

Kayem Foods learned of the possible contamination after two consumers complained of findings pieces of plastic in their food, the USDA said. No injures have been reported.
