Westfield Area Gets Several Inches Of Snow After Overnight Storm
Westfield Schools closed Friday due to the heavy snow. Union County received an average of 6 inches after Thursday night's storm.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Residents throughout Westfield and Union County woke up to the first major snowfall of the year after the wintery weather passed through New Jersey late last night.
Westfield and surrounding towns got several inches of snow Friday morning, with Union County averaging around 6 inches and Westfield at almost 5 inches.
Westfield Schools, although already having early dismissal days this week, were cancelled Friday, Jan. 7 due to the heavy snow. Superintendent Dr. González said in an email Wednesday that NJ school districts are no longer permitted to have "virtual snow days," according to the Department of Education.
