Westfield Area Y Receives $25K Donation for College Scholarships
The Westfield Area Y received a substantial donation during a fundraising and recognition banquet.

The Westfield Area Y hosted its 17th annual Achievers Fundraising and Recognition Banquet last month, during which it received a substantial donation for college scholarships.
More than 135 participants and supporters attended the fundraising banquet. The Connell Company presented the Westfield Area Y with a $25,000 donation for college scholarships for graduating seniors and students already attending college, the Westfield Area Y said.
The Achievers program inspires youth in high school throughout the YMCA’s service area to become leaders in their community and achieve academic excellence, according to the Y’s website. The program matches youth with African-American and other minority professionals as role models in an effort to raise the academic standards of young people, expose students to a variety of career options and inspire them to achieve their goals.
