Where Are The Best Hills For Sledding In Westfield?
For those looking for a fun activity in the snowy weather, there are many hills for sledding in the Westfield area.
WESTFIELD, NJ — With all the snow on the ground after Saturday's storm, it's the perfect time to grab a sled and head out to one of the many hills in Westfield.
Depending on whether residents are looking for a mild, beginner's hill or a steeper, adventurous hill there are a few options in and around the Westfield area.
Echo Lake Park in Mountainside is a popular destination for sledding. Specifically, the "Summer Arts Hill" near Springfield Avenue in Westfield is a great location.

The hill at the Tamaques School in Westfield is also a prime location.
For beginners, the hill by the Summit Community Center at 100 Morris Avenue is a good starting hill. In addition, the hill at Jefferson Elementary School is perfect for a mild, but fun sledding experience.

Briant Park in Summit and Lenape Park in Cranford have been ranked as some of the best hills in Union County, according to NJMOM. Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth, Unami Park in Garwood and Scotch Hills Golf Course in Scotch Plains also made the list.
In Cranford, the hill by the track at Memorial Field is also an option.
For those seeking greater thrills, residents might want to go outside of Union County. There are several steeper hills in the South Mountain Reservation closer to Maplewood.
People should take caution when driving on the roads Saturday and Sunday, as the Department of Public Works is plowing and salting the roads.
According to the National Weather Service, the following is the forecast in Westfield for Saturday and Sunday:
Saturday Afternoon
A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy and cold, with a steady temperature around 20. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. Blustery, with a northwest wind around 21 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.
Saturday Night
Widespread blowing snow, mainly before 7pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 9. Wind chill values between -5 and 5. Northwest wind 15 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.
Sunday
Sunny, with a high near 26. Wind chill values between -5 and 5. West wind 10 to 13 mph.
