Dam Report Hearing, Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser This Week
Here's a look at the week ahead in Westwood, Hillsdale and Washington Township.

The Hillsdale Board of Education is expected to appoint a new dean of students for George G. White Middle School and may also appoint the district's new supervisor of curriculum, instruction and assessment during their meeting this week. The board meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the board's offices.
The Washington Township Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the township Municipal Complex. The council is scheduled to vote on awarding a contract for a new emergency generator for the township's government offices. The township has been renting a generator since their old one began spewing carbon monoxide into the Police Department after Hurricane Irene. The council previously rejected four bids they received which were all more than $30,000 over what officials expected to pay.
An engineer who made studied United Water's plan for the Woodcliff Lake Dam on behalf of Hillsdale will present his findings to the public Tuesday. Residents will be able to share their thoughts and question the engineer, but will be limited in time. The Hillsdale Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Borough Hall.Â

The Westwood Council is scheduled to continue discussing the borough's police promotion requirements during their meeting this week. Their public meeting starts at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the borough Municipal Complex.
A hearing for a proposed sober living home on Magnolia Avenue near George G. White Middle School is scheduled to continue this week. The Hillsdale Planning Board meets at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Borough Hall.

Westwood Regional Schools will hold a "yard sale" at Westwood High School from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims. District students and staff have organized numerous events this year to help those affected by the storm. Any vendors interested in participating can email kelly.morrison@wwrsd.org for more info.
