WESTWOOD, NJ – Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County recently held a ceremony to break ground on a new home in Westwood.

According to Habitat Bergen, the 1,500 square-foot home at 95 Sand Road will be built on a lot donated by the borough and is intended for a low-to-moderate income family with preferential treatment given to military veterans.

It will also be the organization’s first-ever home in Westwood and the non-profit hopes to lay foundation prior to the start of winter.

“During two and a half decades of building in Bergen County, Bergen Habitat has relied on the generosity of individual and corporate donors to fund the building or rehabilitation of more than 100 homes in 14 towns across the County,” according to Habitat Bergen’s Executive Director Maureen Cameron.

“It is through the commitment to service demonstrated by our individual and team volunteers, and the sweat equity of our families, that we help our ow income neighbors achieve the dream of home ownership," she said.
