Hillsdale PD Searching For Man Who Followed Girl Home

Police say a girl walking her dog Tuesday evening in Hillsdale was followed home by a man.

HILLSDALE, NJ - Police are investigating a report of a man following home a girl walking on a street Tuesday evening in Hillsdale.

According to police, around 9 p.m. on Hopkins Street, a girl was walking her dog when a car stopped near the Stever Avenue intersection, did a U-turn and then drove back towards her.

As she ran home, the vehicle followed and pulled into her family's driveway, police said.

There, the driver, who was described by police as a black male with a medium build between the ages of 20 to 30 years old, exited his car and approached the home's side door. After the girl's mother confronted the man, he returned to his car and sped off, police said.

He was last seen traveling north on Hopkins Street and turning east onto Stever Avenue, police said. His car was described as "an older dark colored four door sedan," police said.

Police say they are reviewing surveillance camera footage from homes in the area and following up on any other information that we receive. Additional patrols of the neighborhood have also been implemented.
