Hillsdale Police Read to Students

Hillsdale police officers participated in the nationally-recognized "Read Across America Day" earlier this month.The program coincides with birthday of author Dr. Seuss and is designed to encourage reading among school-aged children.

On March 1, police officers visted students at Hillsdale’s elementary schools. Detective Sergeant Robert Francaviglia, Police Officer Liz Zimmerman and Police Officer William Diedtrich to read to the children of the Meadowbrook School and Smith School.

The police officers visited several grades to briefly read a Dr. Seuss book that was selected by each respective class. The annual event helps to commemorate the importance of reading skills for the children and it allows the children to interact with their local police officials.

Chief Chip Stalter said he wishes to thank Ms. Erin Killeen and Ms. Grace Oliff for coordinating this program for the Meadowbrook and Smith Schools.
