Post-Sandy Event Draws 400 to Bergen YJCC

The YJCC opened its doors to the community after Hurricane Sandy for residents to clean up and have some fun.

An "epic" post-Hurricane Sandy event for kids brought 400 young people, in two shifts, to the Bergen County YJCC in Washington Township Saturday evening.

The event, created to counter cabin fever in the aftermath of Sandy, included face painting, video games, swimming, basketball, plus a DJ and dancers to rouse the crowd. The entire event, including pizza and drinks, was open to the community, free of charge, with attendees bringing non-perishable items to aid others in the community.
