Schepisi, Auth Re-Elected To District 39 Assembly Seats

WESTWOOD, NJ – Republican State Assembly Members Holly Schepisi and Robert Auth fended off Democratic challengers John Birkner, Jr. and Gerard Falotico and were re-elected to new, three-year terms.

On Tuesday, Schepisi and Auth received 27,125 votes and 25,494 votes, respectively, according to the unofficial results for District 39.

Falotico, a former Mahwah police officer, netted 20,989 votes, while Birkner, outgoing Westwood mayor, earned 21,989 votes.

In a social media post following the race, Schepisi wrote, “Thank you to everyone who supported us through this journey. We could have never won without you. A well fought victory.”

Birkner congratulated his opponents, as well as his successor in Westwood, Ray Arroyo, who will be the borough's first new mayor in over a decade.

"While I will miss serving as mayor after 12 amazing years, I look forward to the next two months and then being able to step away on my own terms. We will leave Westwood in capable hands and I look forward to the continuation of positive progress into the years ahead,"

All 80 seats in the state Assembly were on the ballot in Tuesday’s election. While Democrats still hold the majority, Republicans picked up a few seats on Election Day, mainly in South Jersey.
