Westwood Gallery Show Benefits Sandy Relief

A portion of sales from Helen Frank's paintings of shore scenes will benefit hurricane relief efforts.

A show opening at the Westwood Gallery Saturday will benefit hurricane relief.

The show will feature paintings of New Jersey Shore scenes by Helen Frank, an accomplished artist whose work appears in collections of the Library of Congress, the Museum of Modern Art and UNICEF, among others.

Frank is a resident of New Jersey, and many of her paintings show iconic scenes from locations around the state, including Seaside Heights. She "watched in disbelief as Sandy wreaked devastation on the homes, boardwalks, and the lives of countless families," according to gallery owner Mike Fitzsimmons.

Hurricane Sandy caused "unfathomable" damage when it hit the Jersey Shore last month. Many areas have not yet recovered from the storm.

The exhibit is opening Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will remain up through December 30.
