Westwood PD: 'Several' Attempted Car Burglaries Reported
Car burglars tried to break into several cars parked in two neighborhoods on Thursday night, police said.
WESTWOOD, NJ - Police say they are investigating several attempted car burglaries reported in Westwood.
On Thursday night, two sections of town – in the areas of Fern Street and Fifth Avenue – unknown individuals tried to break into "a number" of cars parked in driveways, according to police.
No arrests were made and police did not say if anything has been reported stolen.

“Last night, one of the surrounding towns had two vehicles stolen, as well. Often times, criminal groups will target an area in which they steal cars and commit vehicle burglaries,” police said.
The holiday season, Chief Michael Pontillo said, often means there will be an uptick in property crimes, which is why it’s important for the public to be vigilant and report suspicious activity in a timely manner so police can follow up.
