Abad was arrested at 3 p.m. on Sunday and charged with first-degree murder, the complaint says. Abad was taken to the Rockland County Jail.

"The investigation revealed that this was an isolated incident with the parties known to each other and there is no continuing threat to the public," police said. "There were no firearms involved, despite earlier posts and reports."

In the complaint, police said that Abad struck Aguilar-Agustin "about the head and body numerous times" and struck Anabelly Aguiar the same way, to prevent them from calling police.

Even though an arrest was made, the Spring Valley Police Department asked anyone with information to call 845-356-7400 or email Tips@VillageSpringValley.org.
