Bergen Man Steals FedEx Van While Driver Hangs Onto Door: Cops
The FedEx employee hung on to the door for 20 feet before letting go, police said.
A Bergen County man was arrested after he stole a FedEx van from a woman while she hung on to the door after making a delivery in Hackensack Thursday, police said.
Joseph Dunsay, 40, of Hackensack was charged with theft and creating a false public alarm, said Capt. Peter Busciglio.
A FedEx driver called police shortly before 11:30 a.m. and said she was elbowed in the chest by a man while in an elevator trying to deliver a package at 302 Union St., Busciglio said.

After leaving the elevator, a receptionist escorted the woman out of the building where they saw the same man go into her FedEx van, Busciglio said.
The woman ran toward the van and tried to stop the man from stealing it, the captain said. She held on to the passenger side door for 20 feet while Dunsay drove away. She let go and the van fled west on Union Street, he said.

Police found the now-unoccupied van several blocks away on Anderson Street. They searched for the man and found him in a laundromat on Anderson Street, the captain said.
The FedEx driver positively identified Dunsay as the person who stole the van, Busciglio said.
Dunsay also pulled a fire alarm while he left 302 Union St., police said. He was charged and taken to the Bergen County Jail. Bail has not been set.
The woman did not sign a complaint for the simple assault that took place in the elevator, Busciglio said.
