Parade And Bike Decorating Contest On Tap For Wyckoff Memorial Day: See Schedule

The parade and other festivities kick off next week to observe Memorial Day in Wyckoff.

WYCKOFF, NJ — Wyckoff's Memorial Day observance on Monday will include a commemoration, refreshments and a bike decorating contest for kids.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs says: "Memorial Day, a federal holiday held the last Monday in May, is the nation's foremost annual day to mourn and honor its deceased service men and women. Originally called Decoration Day, it was formalized by a 'Memorial Day Order' issued by
Grand Army of the Republic Commander-in-Chief John A. Logan in 1868."

In Wyckoff, events will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a service from Fire Company 1.

The Veterans Memorial Service will start at 10 a.m. at Wyckoff Reformed Church.

At 11:30 a.m., the parade will kick off, heading from Cornerstone Church at 495 Wyckoff Ave. to Town Hall.

"Join us after the parade at Fire Co. 1 for food, beverages and fun," the town said. "Bicycle decorating contest winners will be announced."

A post said the patriotic bicycle decorating contest is for grades 2-8.
