Bystander Alerts Police To Wyckoff House Fire
The resident was walking his dog on Brookside Avenue Monday morning when he heard a smoke detector going off, police said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — An alert resident noticed a fire broke out at a Brookside Avenue house Monday morning, police said.
The resident was walking his dog at about 8:15 a.m. when he heard a smoke detector going off and smelled smoke, said Lt. Joseph Soto.
Police went to the house and found smoke coming from the back of it, Soto said.

No one was home and Wyckoff firefighters extinguished the blaze. No one was injured.
Detectives and the bureau of fire prevention are investigating what caused the fire. The blaze does not appear suspicious, Soto said.
