Cops: NY Man Tried Filling Fraudulent Codeine Prescription at CVS in Wyckoff

The 50-year-old man was committed to the Bergen County Jail in default of $10,000 bail.

Wyckoff police say a New York man tried to use a fraudulent prescription to obtain codeine at CVS Pharmacy last week.

Police were called to the pharmacy on Franklin Avenue on Feb. 9 to a report of a man allegedly attempting “to use a fraudulent prescription to obtain codeine, which is a controlled dangerous substance,” Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin C. Fox said.

The man left the store before police arrived, but was later picked up after the vehicle he was a passenger in was stopped on Franklin Avenue.

Roosevelt Porter, 50, of Ozone Park, NY, was arrested and charged with attempting to obtain prescription narcotics by fraud, forgery and possession of a bottle of codeine without a prescription, Chief Fox said.

He was committed to the Bergen County Jail in default of $10,000 bail.
