Healthy Kids Day Activities Set at Wyckoff YMCA

Healthy Kids Day, a nationally recognized YMCA initiative, will take place at the Wyckoff Family YMCA from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 27.

Free family fun includes: a youth biathlon (run and swim) for children 9 to 14-years-old; carnival games and obstacle course for 3- to 6-year-olds; tae kwon do; Cardio Kick & Jab; Family Fit workout; Family Zumba; yoga; and a sample of the Y's C.A.T.C.H. fitness curriculum used in the Y's after-school program.

The Junior League's "Kids in the Kitchen," presented in conjunction with the Ridgewood Culinary Studio, engages kids to learn about nutrition and healthy eating habits. The Junior League of Bergen County also will be sponsoring presentations by alumni from NBC's "The Biggest Loser," including Jean Widder, Maggie King and Amanda Arlauskus.

Students from William Paterson University will provide mini fitness assessments. The first 50 participants will receive a Healthy Kids T-shirt.

Other activities includes a hand-washing demonstration by Valley Hospital, backpack education, pea pod planting with Health Barn, fire safety information from the Wyckoff Fire Department, child safety information from Wyckoff police, NY Life Child Identification and more.

 The event is open to the public.  The Wyckoff Y is located at 691 Wyckoff Ave.
