WYCKOFF, NJ — Deadlocked on a vote 2-2 on whom should be appointed to the Wyckoff Township Committee, the legislative body deferred to the Bergen County Republican Committee, as per statute, for a final decision.

After deliberating the merits of candidates Scott Fisher and Mae Bogdansky, who were previously recommended by the county committee to fill the vacancy, the county committee decided to give Fisher the appointment.

Fisher, who retired last year after a 33-year career employed with Wyckoff, replaces former Committeewoman Melissa Rubenstein, who resigned from the post in December. He will complete the remainder of her term this year.

On Thursday, Fisher was sworn in to the office by Mayor Thomas Madigan, who was elected mayor by his council colleagues at last week's reorganization meeting.

Fisher has served the township in various capacities, including as Department of Public Works Manager, and may, in fact, hold a record for most job titles for an individual employed by the township, a proclamation read by former Mayor Rudy Boonstra upon his retirement said.

The former DPW manager was also a legislative aide to District 40 Assemblyman Kevin Rooney, who congratulated him in a Facebook post.

"I wish Scott all the best in (his) public service moving forward and am confident that (he) will put experience and knowledge to good use in elected office," Rooney said.
