K-8 Wyckoff School Board 'Hits The Ground Running' With New President

The Wyckoff BOE will "focus on ensuring school facilities provide a healthy place to learn," newly selected president Louis Cicerchia said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — The K-8 Wyckoff Board of Education has hit the ground running this year, according to school district officials.

The 9-member board, led by newly selected officers Louis Cicerchia and Frank Barbagallo (president and vice president, respectively), will "focus on security and safety in our schools, updating protocols and ensuring facilities provide a healthy place to learn and work," Cicerchia said.

Cicerchia and Barbagallo, selected to the positions at the board's Jan. 3 reorganization meeting, replace former president Robert Francin and former vice president Daniel McHugh. Cicerchia was just re-elected by voters to a three-year term on the board; he was the only one of three incumbents, McHugh included, to seek a new term.

Barbagallo's term is set to expire at the end of this year, as is Francin's.

Sworn in with Cicerchia were newcomers James Schappert and Juan "Tony" Molina, who won with him on a "Reading, Writing, Arithmetic" slate in November. The trio won against another three-candidate slate, comprised of all newcomers.

"The new board looks to continue putting students first," Cicerchia said. "(We are) excited about the opportunity and dedicated to stewardship of our excellent school district."
