WYCKOFF, NJ — A business idea that was born during the coronavirus pandemic, "pepper" — a new Wyckoff store stocked with art, home decor and vintage finds — finally came to fruition after two years of planning.

Founded by 12-year Wyckoff residents Jennifer Marder and her husband Mitch Marder, pepper opened its first and only location on Oct. 6 at 247 Everett Avenue.

"Dreams do come true," the store said on its Facebook page.

After years in what Jennifer Marder called "corporate America," she said, she and her husband decided that they wanted to work closer to home and become a bigger part of the Wyckoff community.

pepper, mixing modern decor with antique finds, stems from the Marders' love of home design, particularly the accessories that "make a house a home," Jennifer Marder said.

"The mix of new and vintage gives any home a soul and sense of place," she said. "Not everything can be brand new; sometimes it is the sense of history and authenticity that give depth and context to the design of a space."

pepper is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
