NEW JERSEY — Rep. Josh Gottheimer, who represents part of Northern New Jersey, said Thursday afternoon that his plane was struck by another while waiting to take off in Washington, D.C.

"While waiting to take off on the runway at DCA just now, another plane struck our wing," the Congressman wrote on social media just before 1:30 p.m. "Thankfully, everyone is safe."

He added, "Just a reminder: Recent cuts to the FAA weaken our skies and public safety."

Gottheimer had said in late February that there were 14 "major" crashes so far in 2025, with 87 deaths in American airspace.
