Several Bergen County Companies Warn Of Layoffs By End Of 2023
Besides the Mahwah Sheraton, a local department store and other Bergen County employers told the state they'll lay off workers by 2024.
MAHWAH, NJ — By state law, large businesses planning to lay off more than 50 workers have to notify the government at least 60 days in advance. Several Bergen County-based employers and stores gave notice in August about layoffs that will take place later this year.
As reported by Patch last week, the Sheraton in Mahwah expects to lay off 91 employees in mid-December, amid a plan to redevelop the area for warehouses and affordable housing.
Several other businesses in Bergen County have also given notice to the state about layoffs in the next four months.
